I joined Sovereign in 2014 after spending five years with Experian plc where I was Corporate Development Director, covering M&A activity in the UK and EMEA. Whilst there I worked on a broad range of transactions, with a focus on software, data, and analytics businesses.

Prior to this I qualified as a chartered accountant with KPMG, working in Transaction Services where I focused on the business services, healthcare and real estate sectors.

One of the things I really enjoy about being part of the Sovereign team, is the range of businesses I get the opportunity to work with. We really put in the time and energy to get to know the businesses in our areas of sector focus and build relationships with business owners and management teams. This has led to many strong investment partnerships where we work together to deliver the growth strategy that’s right for the business.

We apply our expertise to support management to leverage their companies' market positions and further accelerate growth, both organically and through acquisition.

I’ve worked on a variety of transactions in business and technology services including Bristow & Sutor and its subsequent acquisitions of DRP and Credit Style, Premier Park and its follow-on acquisitions, the take private of Murgitroyd Group plc from AIM, our investment in digital transformation and software development provider Zenitech, our investment in data and analytics services business AquaQ Analytics, and the merger of Outcomes First Group with Options Group.

Across all of these businesses, we have been able to apply our expertise, supporting management to leverage their companies' market positions and further accelerate growth, both organically and through acquisition. This has also meant providing support in areas such as sales development, technology investment and recruiting key talent. With Bristow & Sutor, for example we have created a sector leading business through a combination of significant technology investment and diversification through acquisition; Agena, a technology enabled provider of parking management services, acquired proprietary software and data analytics capability to deliver a wider range of innovative solutions to its clients. These are just a couple of examples of how we work in partnership with management to deliver strategic growth.

Before joining KPMG I graduated from the University of Southampton with a first class BSc in Accounting and Finance. I am married with two young daughters, and when not doing my best to keep them entertained I enjoy travelling, skiing and watching Formula 1. I am also a keen musician and distinctly average golfer.
