Sovereign Capital Partners, the UK private equity Buy & Build specialist, is delighted to announce the promotion of Jonathan Thorne to the Partnership. Jonathan joined Sovereign in 2014 as an Investment Manager and has been integral to driving the firm’s investment activity in UK and international companies in the Business and Technology Services sector.
Jonathan has played a key role in a number of Sovereign’s investments. These include the take private of IP services provider Murgitroyd Group plc from AIM; backing digital transformation and software development provider Zenitech; the MBO of UK car park management solutions provider Premier Park and its three follow-on acquisitions; the MBO of judicial services and debt recovery group Bristow & Sutor and its two follow-on acquisitions, and most recently, Sovereign’s investment in data and analytics services business AquaQ Analytics.
Prior to joining Sovereign Jonathan spent five years at Experian plc where he was Corporate Development Director and helped them to acquire a range of information, data, analytics and software businesses in the UK and EMEA.
Dominic Dalli, Managing Partner, Sovereign Capital Partners, said: "We are delighted to recognise Jonathan’s success and contribution to the team with his promotion to the senior partnership. We firmly believe in supporting our team’s development and many of our senior team have been promoted from within. Jonathan is not only a highly skilled transactor but has the breadth of qualities that a successful investor really needs. This is reflected in the many strong relationships he has forged with portfolio management.
The last 18 months have been extremely busy at Sovereign; in just over the last 12 months alone, we have delivered 12 transactions. As we look to the next 10 years, we will be continuing to deploy our strategy of buy and build in the sectors we know well and continue to see real opportunity and value. There is no doubt that these last 18 months have put many firms through their paces and we are very proud and fortunate to have seen our portfolio perform strongly throughout this time. This has been underpinned by the quality and hard work of the entire Sovereign team and that of our portfolio management teams. The partnership is very proud of everything that has been achieved."
