Sovereign Capital, the UK private equity Buy & Build specialist, is delighted to announce that portfolio company Eden Futures has won the 2014 HealthInvestor award for ‘Community support provider of the year’.

Eden was also a finalist in the ‘Complex Care provider of the Year’ category alongside portfolio company Christchurch Group. These awards recognise the organisations and individuals that have “made an outstanding contribution to the sector during 2013”. Sovereign Capital was a finalist in the ‘Investor of the year’ category.

In addition, Eden Futures’ Business Development Manager, David Whittock, has won ‘National Care Innovator Award’ at the Great British Care Awards, and a support team from Nottingham recently won the ‘Supporting Older People with a Learning Disability’ award at the National Learning Disability Awards.

Eden Futures is a healthcare and social care services business that provides flexible long-term care, support and housing solutions for people with learning disabilities and complex mental health issues. Sovereign invested in the company in 2010 and with its backing Eden Futures has increased the number of individuals in its care to over 500 and significantly extended its service offering.

2013 was a transformational year for Eden as it opened its own independent hospital, enabling people with complex needs to receive treatment and care in their own self-contained apartments under a hospital registration. This is a unique and ground-breaking proposition, as no other supported living business in the UK has this type of facility – it enables Eden Futures to offer a truly complete care pathway.

In addition, Eden Futures completed two complementary acquisitions, of Housing and Support Solutions (HASS) and Essential Futures. Both companies were strategically important as they each expanded the range of services that Eden Futures could offer; alongside supported living HASS also provides day care, while Essential Futures also offers occupational therapy services and forensic support.

Dominic Dalli, Partner, Sovereign Capital Partners, said: "The Sovereign approach has always been to partner the highest quality healthcare companies and support them not only to grow, but to extend and enhance the services that they provide. These award recognise the hard work and commitment of their staff."
