He will be focused on seeking opportunities to back businesses in the Financial Services sector. The appointment further strengthens the firm’s expertise in this sector.

Prior to joining Sovereign, James was a Strategy and Innovation Consultant at Doblin, the innovation practice of Monitor Deloitte, where he worked with management teams to identify and capitalise on growth opportunities for their businesses. This followed three years with Deloitte’s Financial Services team.

James’ experience is highly complementary to Sovereign’s investment approach of identifying opportunities for portfolio business to rapidly scale and develop their service offering whether organically, through acquisition, or a combination of both.

James has a BA in Philosophy from Nottingham and a PhD in Philosophy from Durham University.
