Investment background
We partnered with Apollo Home Healthcare in February 2026, backing a business that had already established itself as one of the few scaled providers in the UK capable of delivering complex, nurse-overseen care at home. Founded in 2014 and headquartered in Wolverhampton, Apollo had built a strong reputation as a trusted, high-quality operator, consistently achieving strong CQC outcomes and maintaining robust governance and clinical training standards that distinguish it from broader domiciliary care operators.
Led by Managing Director Laura Walker and Operations Director Michelle Flynn, both of whom have been with the business since its founding, Apollo operates a differentiated hub-based model across the Midlands, North, and East of England, employing over 1,000 healthcare assistants and approximately 150 nurses.
By enabling highly complex patients to be safely cared for at home, Apollo plays a vital role in reducing pressure on NHS inpatient settings, directly aligned with the NHS’s strategic priority of shifting complex care into the community.
The story so far
We have worked with the management team to strengthen the leadership structure and position Apollo for its next phase of growth. Founder Phil Burrows has transitioned into an advisory and non-executive role, and we have appointed Michael Kerins as Executive Chair. Michael brings more than 30 years of senior leadership experience, including his time at Cromwell where he progressed to Group CEO and led multiple acquisitions, followed by a series of Chair and non-executive roles across private equity-backed healthcare and services businesses, including EMED Group, MRO Plus Solutions, and Millbrook Healthcare.
Our investment is supporting Apollo’s continued geographic expansion and investment in people, technology, and client experience, as well as selective acquisitions where they add strategic value.
