I joined Sovereign in 2010 from Lloyds, where I worked in both the leverage finance team and LDC, its private equity arm. Prior to this I spent time with JP Morgan in London and BAML in New York.
Sovereign had been a client of mine at Lloyds; it always stood out not only because it carried out a significant number of transactions - which reflected its focus on Buy & Build – but for the energy they put in to partnering their portfolio companies and management teams to deliver growth.
There are many different elements to my role, but I particularly enjoy working alongside ambitious management teams and seeing a business achieve its absolute potential.
I’ve worked on a number of transactions across Sovereign’s areas of focus. These include: Linnaeus Group, Xendo, Outcomes First Group, City & County Healthcare Group, Lifetime Training and Astrum Education Group. One that particularly stands out is working closely with and supporting the management team of Linnaeus Group. Theirs was a story of rapid growth, both through market leading organic growth as well as via acquisition, which resulted in the diversification in its offering and an expanded geographic reach. At exit, the group had made 21 acquisitions and grown from 1 to 87 sites whilst being recognised as one of the UK’s leading referral focussed veterinary groups. We sold the business to Mars Inc in June 2018 for what has been Sovereign’s largest and most successful ever investment.
I studied at the London School of Economics for a BSc (Hons) in Economics and Management.
One of my passions is travelling yet I hate flying; ironically I married an Australian with whom I have a young son - I'm ever hopeful I'll crack long haul! I'm also passionate about wine and competitive sports, especially Chelsea FC!
