As part of Sovereign’s origination capability, I work to identify new platform investment opportunities together with follow-on acquisitions for our portfolio companies.
I started my career at S&P Capital IQ where, having previously led their European private equity research team, I focused on business development within the financial and professional services sectors. I then worked in the private equity teams at both Egon Zehnder and Redgrave Partners. When I learned about the focus and resource Sovereign placed on researching sectors and the companies and opportunities within them, I knew this was the right career move for me. I joined Sovereign in 2009.
Succession planning is a real issue for many owner-managers and something that I frequently discuss with them. We work to create sound solutions to this problem and the best opportunities for the business going forward. Linnaeus Group is a great example of this. In partnering with Sovereign, the owners were able to step back and become Non-Executive Directors whilst retaining a stake. Together, with the help of the management team, we were able to create a market-leading veterinary group.

I’ve been involved in a number of platform investments including PiCS, Nurse Plus, Xendo and Linnaeus Group, as well as follow-on acquisitions for PiCS, Xendo, Linnaeus, City & County, NFA, Eden Futures, and Outcomes First. Building relationships with business owners and enabling them to take their business forward, whether as a solution to retirement planning or providing investment to accelerate growth, is something I really enjoy.
I have a BA in Business Studies from the University of Portsmouth and I also studied at ESC Bordeaux.
