Sovereign Capital further strengthens portfolio development team

Sovereign Capital, the UK private equity Buy & Build specialist, today announces the appointment of Jon Edington as Assistant Director to its portfolio development team.

Jon joins Sovereign from 3i plc where he spent seven years managing a number of investments across their lifecycles, from deal origination to exit.  Prior to 3i, Jon worked at Deloitte Consulting in London having gained seven years' manufacturing and industrial experience in the USA and Japan.

Jon holds an MBA from INSEAD, following an Electrical and Electronic Engineering degree from Imperial College.

Jon will support Sovereign's ongoing Buy & Build strategy, working with management teams to identify and secure bolt-on opportunities and follow-on rounds of finance where appropriate. In addition, Jon will also realise maximum value from portfolio companies at exit.

Commenting on the appointment, Kevin Whittle, Partner heading the portfolio development team said: "We are very pleased to be expanding the team with high calibre recruits like Jon. He brings with him a wealth of experience, in supporting and developing portfolio companies, which will further strengthen the transactional capability of the team."

Jon's is the fourth appointment to the investment team this year, following the recruitment of Sarah Pratt in August and Tom Matthews and Taha Hasan in July. Sovereign's growing investment team continues to successfully deploy its proven Buy & Build strategy in its chosen service based sectors of Education & Training, Healthcare and Support Services where Sovereign has completed 10 transactions in 2008 including three platform investments.
