8 Solutions is one of the leading dedicated data centre services providers in the UK. During the period of Sovereign's investment, the business developed both organically and through acquisition, extending its reach both in the UK and overseas.
Established in 1991, 8 Solutions had built strong, long-term relationships with its client base. The global market opportunity was highly attractive given the exponential growth in data volumes.
Sovereign recognised the scope to develop the business through Buy & Build into related areas that similarly operated in controlled environments.
With Sovereign's support, the business made one strategic acquisition, developing the Group's UK coverage further, in terms of both customer penetration and operational reach. It also developed its range of services both in the UK and overseas to offer both consultancy and fulfilment projects across four continents.
Services included specialist deep cleaning to the ISO14644 Clean Room Standard, zinc whisker remediation services and measuring and airflow management – all of which are crucial in mitigating risks within an IT facility.
At the end of Sovereign's investment the business employed 80 technicians, provided services in 16 countries worldwide and had a UK and international blue-chip customer base, providing mission-critical services to many FTSE 100 clients, ranging from retail to investment banks to telecoms providers.
