Alex joins from RJD Partners where he had been a Partner since 2011 working with businesses across a breadth of sectors.

Alex’s expertise is highly complementary to Sovereign’s areas of sector focus: Support Services, Healthcare Services and Education & Training. His investments include the £23m secondary buy-out of training provider Babington Group, the £15m buy-out of Burgess Marine, the marine engineering services business, and the £40m secondary buy-out of Harrington Brooks, the debt solutions business. Prior to RJD Partners, Alex built his deal experience at Close Brothers Corporate Finance following his earlier accountancy career at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

We are delighted to welcome Alex to the team and to be further strengthening the Partnership. He is a seasoned transactor with an excellent track record in areas which are aligned to our own. We’ve had a very busy 12 months at Sovereign having completed 15 Buy & Build acquisitions, 14 roll-outs and six exits. We look forward to working with Alex whose appointment further enhances our capabilities.

Andrew Hayden, Managing Partner, Sovereign Capital Partners

Sovereign is an active operator with an impressive track record of delivering strong growth for businesses and management teams. Whilst predominantly recognised for their Buy & Build strategy, Sovereign’s investment style is not prescriptive. Each business is approached with a fresh set of eyes, enabling both the investment team and management to create a framework for growth that is right for that business. It was a combination of the scale of their transactional activity, consistency, focused approach and the quality of the team that attracted me to Sovereign.
