esg was formed out of the acquisition of Sencia Group in 2004 and STL Limited in October 2006 which were merged in 2007 and renamed esg. The £45m group employs over 800 people and occupies a unique position providing both pre and post employment solutions, meeting the needs of the UK Government, individual customers and employers alike.In 2007, esg acquired Triangle Training and Orient Gold to complement the core business and to extend esg's geographic reach and service offering.

esg is the only training provider that delivers a joined up approach to the Government's 'employability' and 'skills' agendas and is a leading provider of training and employability programmes to both Government and the private sector on a contracted, outsourced basis. The company operates training centres across England, offering National Vocational Qualifications across Health & Social Care (Childcare and Care of the Elderly) Hospitality, Retail, Call Centre, Customer Service, Business Administration, Butchery, Learning and Development, Distribution and Warehousing, Management and Team Leading. esg continues to maximise opportunities in Governement sponsored Train to Gain and Apprenticeships.
